RootsMagic Releases TreeShare for Ancestry and Has a Giveaway, Too

You all know that I am a fan of Roots Magic, with its wonderful reporting features. On July 28, Roots Magic announced the release of version 7.5 which includes Tree Share for Ancestry. They have also announced some giveaways in connection with the release. You can read all about it at their blog.

As with all new software, the sync to Ancestry has its problems. I was one of the beta testers for the past 6 weeks and found plenty of issues along the way. The company released updates several times each week until reaching the current version last week. Randy Seaver of Genea-musings tested the new release and did not like what it did to his sources. He wrote about it on his blog, so if you are thinking about using Roots Magic to sync your Ancestry trees, you may want to read his comments.

When it comes to sources, I'm not a purist. I'm not going to revisit everything in my files for the past 20 years and make it match Evidence Explained. Rather I want to be able to find the source for the information or to tell others where it came from. So I'm fine with the way the sources move between Roots Magic and Ancestry.

Here's a peek at the new functionality.

I'm excited about finally being able to sync my Ancestry trees again!
